“Chill, Don’t Kill.” is a mostly billboard-based campaign in Memphis, Tennessee (where I grew up) to try to reduce murders in the city.  Sadly, Memphis has a fairly high murder rate, mostly due to pervasive socioeconomic factors.  This video is of the seldom-shown TV commercial associated with the same campaign.  The campaign is fascinating to me for whatever reason.  I hope it has done some good.  This is my transcript of the commercial.

“Been your dawg since you was shortys, and you gonna shoot him [gun sound - pap, pap]?  She loves you.  YOU!!  And you gonna cut her?  You get mad, so you gonna take it out on a baby?  Man up.  Call somebody.  Your momma.  A friend.  Anybody!  Back the hell up!  A man don’t take out people who care about him.  Or else, nobody ever care ‘bout him again.  Chill.  Don’t kill. [prison bars closing shut].”
